

Bernice Hales Ballard, 91, passed away November 5, 2014 at home surrounded by her children. She was born in 1923 to Archie Hodgson Hales and Mary Augusta Marcusen in Spanish Fork, Utah. She attended school in Spanish Fork graduating from Spanish Fork High School in 1941. Mother did well in school, participated in the Thespian Club and developed many life-long friendships. She met her husband, Ralph J. Ballard her senior year. They married in 1942 in Spanish Fork and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She worked at the Defense Depot in Ogden, Utah after high school. When Ralph was called up for active duty, she moved home to Spanish Fork and lived with her parents. After raising her six children, she worked for Job Service for 10 years before retiring in 1991. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in the Relief Society, Primary and Cub Scouts. She was a member of the D.U.P. and an accomplished quilter, seamstress and homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a well-cared-for home and yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 granddaughters and 2 great granddaughters. She is survived by her children: David (Harriet), Diane (Brent) Milne, Carol (Bill) Bengtzen, Mary (Winn) Auerbach, Linda, Lisa (Mike) Wilson.
