Bonnie Martin

Our beloved sister, aunt, second mother and friend, Bonnie Martin, died November 9, 2011. She was 84.

Bonnie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, June 22, 1927 to Della and Joseph Nielson. She graduated from South High School in 1945 and Henager's Business College in 1947. She married Marc W. Anderson 1947, was later divorced. She married J. Wells Martin in 1981. He died in 1997. She served as President of Sal-Ute Chapter, National Secretary's Association 1960-62, was Senior Secretary for B.F. Goodrich Tire Company 1954-1974, and Executive Secretary for Northwest Pipeline Company 1974-1981. She joined a tap dancing group at age 70 and made most of their beautiful costumes and performed with them until age 81. Bonnie was also an avid gardener, knitter, quilter and organizational genius.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Earl Nielson and Harold "Bud" Nielson. She is survived by her sister, Lois (Raymond) Hollstein, sister-in-law, Elaine Nielson, step-children James (Pat) E. Martin and Alice (Richard) Woodward, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Bonnie was thoughtful, energetic, and an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

A graveside service will be held at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. Immediately following, family and friends may gather at the McKay Ward, 1623 South 500 East, where they may share their memories of Bonnie.
