Christa was born in Kiel, Germany to Charlotte and Karl Jakobi. She married Warner Schulz in January 1958 (divorced). Christa later married Bob Hickam on May 18, 1970. They had a wonderful life with many years together until Bob passed away, in 2019, just shy of being 93.
Christa then sold their home and moved into a cute little apartment in Sandy. Although she was alone, she didn’t mind. She had her routines and was very self sufficient. She loved reading books. It was always a struggle at Christmas to find her a book she hadn’t read already, but if there was one she wanted, her family was sure to get it for her.
Christa also loved making Afghans for her family and made sure everyone had one, before her eye sight progressively got worse. When she wasn’t knitting, she was keeping up on the news, watching her Jazz play, and going bowling with her long time friends. More than any of these hobbies, she loved eating out! She always cooked for her and Bob, but once he passed, she hated cooking for just one. Going out to eat then became her favorite past time.
When Carol and Roger would come into town they would wine and dine her, their whole stay. As petite as she was, she could put down some food!
Market Street Grill was her favorite place to eat, but she was lucky enough to be spoiled at Little America for Mother’s Day.
Our family will miss our sweet little Oma and Mutti.
She is survived by her children, Carol Sherrod (Dave- Deceased), Roger and Chris Schulz, Eric Schulz. Her five grandchildren Karli, Christa, Morgan, Michael, and Nicole; and her five great-grandchildren.
Christa is proceeded in death by her husband Bob Hickam, sister Hannalore Jessen, and her parents Willi and Charlotte Stockfleth.
