Mom’s biggest joy in life was spending time with her sister and best friend Angie. For 88 years, they could be found side by side, at school, in any store, at any restaurant, church function or in any mall.
Mom also enjoyed and loved her church. A Sunday school teacher at Prophet Elias for 15 years, she also served the coffee after church for 30 years and faithfully manned her post on the second pew from the back on the end so she could meet and greet everyone as they were leaving.
An avid gardener, mom loved flowers, especially pink roses. In her day, her yard was known for its beautiful gardens.
She is survived by her sister Angie (John) Chipian, son John (Elaine) Vassiliades, Chicago, Illinois; and daughter Mercy (Nick) Mamalis. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christopher (Stephanie) Vassiliades, Jason Vassiliades, Luke (Katie) Vassiliades, Tina Mamalis, Aaron (Marina) Vassiliades, Virigina (Nick) Honochick, Nathan (Jennifer) Vassiliades, and five great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Elizabeth, Alex, Maddie and Connor; nephew Terry (Mary) Chipian and two great nephews John and Jeff Chipian.
She is preceded in death by her parents Sam and Kaliope and her son Peter.
Her family would like to extend a very special and heartfelt thank you to George Wright and all mom’s wonderful caregivers and nurses at Sunrise at Holladay for their unbelievably superior care, love and understanding of her and for allowing her to pass with dignity and love in the place she called home. She would not have made it this far if it were not for all of you!
We would also like to say a special thank you to Scott, her nurse from Care Source Hospice for his ever vigilant and compassionate care for her, as well as her family, in her final stage of life.
