Claudia Marie Weston, peacefully passed through the veil on April 28th, surrounded by her devoted children and grandchildren. Born January 30, 1941, she was the eldest daughter of Claude and Margaret Williamson, a role that shaped her lifelong devotion to caring for others. Claudia spent her childhood in Montpelier, Idaho, where she was very close to her four grandparents who helped her develop her nurturing spirit and cooking skills. As the oldest of six siblings, she was a steady and loving presence to her brothers Kem, Don, and Jim, and her sisters Shannon and Laurel—offering guidance, protection, and unwavering support throughout their lives.
Later, Claudia moved with her family from Montpelier to Rose Park, Utah, where she completed her education at West High School. One evening, on a double date, she met Paul Frank Weston, a charming, rough-around-the-edges farm boy from Bear Lake. Their relationship blossomed into a sweet courtship—Paul even bought a new shirt for every date to impress her. They were later married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 26th, 1961, beginning a new family unit rooted in faith and love.
In the years that followed, Claudia’s life was filled with hard work, deep love, and joyful laughter. She and Paul made their home in Millcreek, Utah, where they raised their family—Richard Paul, Mark Claude, Bret Frank, Maridee Grace, Don Claude, and Raul Kem. When Claudia was young, her father Claude sold his golf clubs to buy a boat so he could spend more time with his family. Claudia continued the boating tradition with her young family by saving all the pocket change that entered the house and paying the down payment for their first boat. That boat was traded in a few years later for a StarCraft which they named Dam Foolishness. The years Claudia and Paul were raising their children were rich with cherished traditions of ward softball, visits to Paul’s family farm in Meadowville, boating trips to Lake Mead, and weekends at Bear Lake, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Family was always at the center of everything Claudia did, family was her heart. She poured herself into making each holiday and birthday meaningful and memorable. Even in the quiet moments of everyday life, she showed her love through home-cooked meals, bringing her family together around the table and caring for them in ways that mattered most.
Claudia was very shy but fiercely loyal. She was a steady source of strength and support for her family and friends. At the center of her life was an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, which guided her thoughts, actions, and the way she loved others. From a young age, she devoted herself to studying and living the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, finding purpose and peace in her beliefs.
She served in many organizations within the church with genuine Christlike love, always offering her best to the Lord and others. Claudia honored her covenants with quiet devotion, remained faithful through life’s joys and challenges, and endured to the end with grace, humility, and steadfast testimony.
With courage and determination, Claudia faced many medical challenges and heartaches throughout her life. In 2004, she lost her beloved husband, Paul, after faithfully caring for him through his battle with cancer. That same year she suffered a stroke that took her ability to speak but never diminished her strong will or unwavering strength.
Though her life was not without hardship, Claudia remained steadfast in her faith to the very end. She now rejoices in a joyful reunion with her husband, Paul; her parents, Claude and Margaret; her in-laws Frank and June; her brother, Don; her brother’s-in-law Jay and Daniel Weston; and her grandparents whom she expressed her deep love for not long before she passed.
She is survived by her children: Richard (Melissa), Mark (Holly), Bret (Jolene), Maridee, Don (Kim), and Raul (Kami); her siblings Kem, Shannon, Laurel, and Jim; as well as 14 grandchildren: Sam (Cami), Sarah (Brandon), Seth (Eliza), Ashley (Alex), Hannah (Kaden), Cooper, Tyler, Bella, Jake, Josh, Jaime, Aiden, Jack, Charlie; and 8 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 8, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Millcreek (3510 South 3610 East). An additional viewing will take place on Saturday, May 9, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Montpelier Cemetery, where Claudia will be laid to rest beside her husband, Paul.
