Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, crossed through the veiI on a beautiful Tuesday evening, November 30, 2021, to be greeted by her eternal mate and family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Connie Ledesma Schmitt was born March 31, 1936, in Centerville, Utah to Narcis and Lavina Knight Ledesma, the first of four children.
Mom attended West High School and graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. She worked for Wheelwright Lithographing Company in Salt Lake City as a staff artist.
She was sealed to her sweetheart Neil Matthews Schmitt on July 2, 1959 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. Connie was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mom's favorite calling in the church was Ward Librarian.
Of all her accomplishments, she was most proud of being a devoted wife, a loving mother to her children, and a 'Gramma' to her grandchildren. She enjoyed her children's friends and the association she had with them. Dancing, singing karaoke or playing ping pong was not unusual for Connie on a weekend night at the Schmitt home. Occasionally, you might get a scalp massage, your palm read, or even your handwriting analyzed. Mom was definitely the life of the party.
Connie is survived by her children: Vaughn (Dawni) Keller, TX; Catherine, Huntington, UT; Darren (Brooke) Herriman, UT; and Cristen(Troy) Budd SLC, UT. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Trina; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, with another one on the way.
Preceded in death by her husband, Neil; infant daughter Sherrie; son, Brian; parents; and sibling, Nester Ledesma.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, December 10, 2021, at Little Cottonwood Stake Center, 1160 East Vine Street (6160 5outh). Viewing will be held 9:30-10:45 am, prior to the service. Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT 84092.
