As a young man, David was granted the rank of Eagle Scout. David graduated from East High School in 1948. He joined the army where he served in the Artillery Division of the Korean War and was stationed mostly in Germany. After completing his duty, David studied photography at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California where he had many great memories. He pursued a career in photography and in art. He took up oil painting, as well as painting color highlights on black and white photographs. He worked in several art galleries in Salt Lake and really enjoyed those creative years. He was a man of many talents. His career included being a salesman, a security guard, a debt collector, and a driver for St. Joseph’s Villa Senior Living community. He ended his working career as a senior companion volunteer with Salt Lake County. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He also loved fishing. He was always a sports fan. In his later years when his eye sight failed him he enjoyed listening to games on the radio. His best times were around friends, family and furry animals. He had a quiet easy going disposition, contagious smile, warm heart, quick wit, and was a very caring and kind gentleman. He will be missed by all those who knew him. We are all so grateful to have known and loved him.
He is survived by his nieces, Judy Hansen, Marcia Hansen, Cydnee Fullmer, Susan Rogalski (Robert). He had many great and great-great nieces and nephews who loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Grant Karren Hansen and Bud Louis Hansen; sisters Barbara Elaine Hansen Busby and Grace Joan Hansen; and nephew Jeffrey Busby.
Special thanks go to all the wonderful neighbors, friends and caregivers from Encompass Home Health, Canyon Home Care and Hospice, Cottonwood Creek MBK Senior Living, and the Veterans Administration for for their compassionate loving care in his last days.
