Dennis graduated from Granite High School and served in the Utah National Guard from 1959 to 1964. He completed 17 months of active duty in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He completed surveyor school and was trained in radar detection.
Dennis married Marsha Ann Willson and together they had three sons. They later divorced. He then married Julia Lee Stansfield and together they had three children.
Dennis worked at Unisys from 1959 to 1992. He held many positions while employed there, lastly as a Manufacturing/Production Control Supervisor.
In 1993, Dennis obtained his Small Engine Vehicle Technician Certificate at Salt Lake Community College. He was elected President of VICA (Vocational Industrial Club of America) in the Small Engine Vehicle Course. He also won two small engine competitions while attending SLCC. Dennis then opened up his own business repairing lawn mowers and small engine equipment. He was a great mechanic and could repair vehicles and small engines.
Dennis and Julia were able to serve an LDS Service Mission in the Rose Park Stake for two years. He also served at the Salt Lake Temple in the baptistry. Dennis was a stalwart and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he held many callings and enjoyed serving in the scouting program. Dennis was a man of prayer and faith.
Dennis was well loved by friends and family and will be remembered as a fan of John Wayne. He loved the outdoors which included camping, fishing, hunting, waterskiing and boating. He was a great father and friend to all who knew him. In his final days, he was surrounded by friends and family who loved him very much. We will miss our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Dennis is survived by his wife; Julia, and children: Doug (Carolyn) Hogan, Brian (Nanette) Hogan, Brent (Lisa) Hogan, Jenny (Tim) Leslie, Clark (DeeAnna Baldwin) Hogan and 18 grandchildren. Siblings: Ivan (Celeste) Hogan, Cheryl (Jim) Holt, David (Shelly) Hogan, and half-sister Inez Peterson. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Andrew Hogan.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 9, 2022 at the Valley View 9th Ward, 1925 East Gundersen Lane in Holladay. A viewing will be held from 11:30 am - 12:45 pm prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S Highland Drive.
