The second daughter of Flametta Hawkins and James Clifford Olson. Dolores came bounding into the world on March 18, 1937 and the world has never been the same!
Dolores grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah with her mom, sister, and Aunt Ina. This is where she attended school until she moved to Nephi, Utah for her senior year of High School. Graduating from Juab High School in 1954, where she made life-long friends, the “Nephi Group.” Also in 1954 Dolores became the Rodeo Queen of the “Ute Stampede”, a title she cherished.
Dolores received a scholarship to the BYU School of Nursing, where she later graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree.
Dolores married Grant R. Hansen on March 4, 1960 in the Salt Lake City Temple, later having two children.
Dolores worked many years for the County Welfare State Board of Education. Where she was involved in creating the “Headstart Program”. She later went to work for the Jordan School District where she worked until she retired.
One of Dolores’s favorite activities was to work with and ride horses. She took part in the reenactment of the Pony Express, as well as riding in the “Days of ’47 Parade”; for many years. She was a member of the Arabian Horse Club, where she rode many competitive trail rides. I am pretty sure she is on one right now!
Dolores also loved to travel. She went on numerous trips to Hawaii, Mexico, China, Italy and Jerusalem- just to name a few. Traveling with both family and friends. Dolores was an amazing person; she had a zest for life, and never wanted to miss a thing.
One of Dolores’s favorite people was her big sister Marlene Bosen. The two stayed very close throughout the years. Traveling everywhere together and laughing the entire way. No one wanted to miss out on the fun when these two got together.
Dolores is survived by her son David Hansen and her daughter Terri Hansen (Chelbi Wilde). Grandchildren; Baylee, Cooper, and Austin Wilde. As well as many niece’s and nephew’s to mention.
We would like to thank everyone who in anyway helped my mother have such a wonderful life. From caregivers, neighbors, the Church, family and friends. Anyone and everyone who walked through her door and touched her life for the better- thank you so much.
