Dorothea E. Russell

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Dorothea Eliza Boulton Russell passed away peacefully to be home with her Lord on January 16, 2014 at the age of 98 in Salt Lake City, Utah.She was born on April 15, 1915 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles and Emma Engeman Boulton. She graduated from West High School (1933) and L.D.S. Business College (1938) she married Gordon Romney Russell in 1939, later divorced. She was employed by the Utah State Tax Division until she retired. She was a faithful member of the Bethel Baptist Church and later, the Evangelical Free Church, SLC, Utah where she had joy in teaching pre-schoolers. Her passion for gardening allowed her to take flower arrangements to church; she was a member of a Bible Study and often provided transportation for others to attend church until her eyesight failed and could no longer drive. She will be remembered for her strong faith in God, love of family, her famous oatmeal cookies, dinner rolls, and the chickens she raised. She loved to golf, hike, go camping and she traveled extensively. Her family remains close and family events were always one of her favorite delights. Dorothea is survived by her five children: Janet (Jim) Howard, Winnemucca, NV; Bruce (Patricia) Russell, SLC, UT; Sharon (Dennis) Cleverly, Rockwall, TX; Scott Russell, SLC, UT; Mark (Mary) Russell SLC, UT; 11 grand-children, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, siblings: Lucille (Carlos), Lois (Odie), Salt Lake City; nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Charles Boulton and five siblings: Earl, Bud, Mel, Jack and Blanch; one great-grandchild, Preston Howard.The family would like to thank all those who cared for Dorothea from Sunrise Senior Living at Holladay and most recently at Care Source. Services will be held Thursday, January 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, SLC UT. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to service.
