

Emily Hale Barber 93, peacefully passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 in her home in Salt Lake City, Utah with her daughter at her side who cared for her in her final days.
She was born November 13, 1919 in Oakley, Idaho to Edward Hale and Gertrude Mae Bates. Emily was the seventh of ten children who all remained close throughout the years no matter where they lived. Emily was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah where she attended high school and worked in various Hale family businesses. It was while working that she met the love of her life, William (Bill) James Barber, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1940.
Emily is a proud mother of three and together she and Bill raised their children in both Salt Lake City and the Oakland, California area where they made many friends and acquaintances. She was always very social, friendly and easy to talk to and took genuine interest in the lives of others. Her greatest treasure in this life was her family and posterity. She was always proud of her rich pioneer heritage and was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
She is survived by her daughter Judith Brown; brother Ellsworth Hale; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William James Barber and her sons Donald Ellis Barber and William James Barber Jr.
Funeral services will be held Monday April 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 3401 Highland Dr. Salt Lake City, Utah. Family and friends are invited for the viewing from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to extended family, friends and neighbors who cared for and visited her over the years.
