Evelyn Lucille (Taylor) Wiekhorst

Evelyn Lucille Wiekhorst, 95 yrs, beloved wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 after a long and full life. She was born in Kimball, Nebraska to Oscar Clyde Taylor and Fiede (Pedrett) Taylor. She graduated from Kimball High School in 1947, and attended Colorado State College (Greeley, Colorado).

She married her sweetheart, Mark Clinton Wiekhorst from Potter, Nebraska on January 6, 1952. Evelyn dedicated her life to her husband and family. They traveled extensively throughout the United States with Mark’s military career, eventually settling in Salt Lake City when they retired. She was an accomplished seamstress, square dancer (Salt Lake Shakers), and enjoyed embroidery, gardening, cooking, reading, and was an over 50 year member of the Truth Chapter of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Wiekhorst, her daughters Linda Ann Wiekhorst (Joyce McMeen), St George, Utah; and Lou Ann Frei (James), Potter, Nebraska. Three grandchildren: Michael (wife, Jennifer) Frei, Salt Lake City, Utah; Kevin Frei, Potter, Nebraska; and Sarah Rockwell (Tanner), Sidney, Nebraska. Five great grandchildren: Kaylee Rockwell, Sidney, Nebraska; Wyatt, Harper, Boston and Sawyer Frei, Salt Lake City, Utah. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Fiede and Oscar Clyde Taylor; brothers James and Harry; and sisters Ruth Story, and Betty Conners.

Evelyn will be interred in the Potter Cemetery, Potter, Nebraska
