With a broken heart, Gary McKean Davis, passed away on March 6, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 92. He set sail for his final fishing trip and joined his wife Miriam, who left this earth just one week prior.
Born on January 22, 1932, Gary lived a life that was anything but ordinary. Known for his expert watchmaking skills and yearly fishing trips to Alaska and Mexico, and spending his days off at his Skull Valley Property, he always had a story to tell. Throughout his life Gary always found himself in abnormal predicaments. He sustained a multitude of injuries, from many car and 4-wheeler accidents, several broken bones, run-ins with fishhooks, a chainsaw incident, rolling down hills while trying to fix sprinklers, getting attacked by hundreds of bees or simply tripping over his own feet. His accident prone self always left his family in shock and disbelief. He spent more time in emergency rooms than anyone could imagine.
Gary served in the US Army and overseas during the Korean War. He was the proud owner of Fankhauser Jewelry, along with his wife, for 42 years. You could always count on seeing him sitting at his watch bench looking out the front window of the store when you stopped by. Gary was supported and loved by his wife, Miriam Fankhauser Davis for over 70 years. Together they raised 5 children. Family was something that Gary valued highly as he enjoyed family gatherings and holiday parties where everyone could be together.
Gary is survived by his daughters Shauna, Linda Jo (Mike) and Brenda (Mike), 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam, parents, brother, sons Mike and Ron, and son-in-law Greg.
Although Gary may have had his fair share of quirks and a quick temper at times, he was a beloved figure in the lives of those who knew him. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family and friends, but his spirit will live on through the countless memories he created.
As we mourn the loss of Gary, let us also celebrate the life of a man who embraced his individuality and brought joy to those around him. May he rest in peace, forever remembered and cherished in our hearts.
Services for Gary will be held on March 16, 2024, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary. A visitation will take place at 12 PM, followed by a graveside service at 12:45 PM. All who knew him are invited to join in honoring his life and the memories he shared.
