Gary Graham Stewart passed from this life as the earth eclipsed the moon in the early morning on May 26, 2021. He was born to Lorenzo "Bud" Graham, Jr. and Cleo Killpack Stewart on November 22, 1937 in Longview, WA. He was the oldest of 5 siblings growing up in Salt Lake City, UT. He graduated from South High School and then joined the Army National Guard. Gary met the love of his life, Ruby Wright, on a blind date arranged by his step-father, Dewey Stewart. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 1, 1961, a few weeks before Gary reported to active duty with the United States Army at Fort Lewis near Olympia, Washington. He will be remembered as a tireless worker, inventor of tools for his trade as a Master Electrician, and a dedicated family man. He was a dog lover, classic car enthusiast, adventurer, prankster, and hopeless romantic.
Preceded in death by his father, mother and step-father, brother Garth, sister Barbara, and two beloved dogs, Cleo and Brandi. Survived by his wife, Ruby Stewart; daughters, Rita S. Mangum (Eric), Denise Stewart, Jeanine S. Moore (David), and Lisa Stewart, and siblings Gene Stewart (Sylvia) and Kent Stewart (Chris). Proud Papa of Janet Sanford (Frankie Sanchez), Megan Stewart, Trevor Mangum, Casie King (Andy Gonzalez), Shannon Sorenson (Tyler), Ty Cooper, Braxton Snarr (Shalicia), Kenedei Faber (Justin), JJ Ziegler, and 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Gary despised formality, often telling us that when he died to dig a hole in the back yard and bury him in a box. Much to his disappointment, Gary will be properly interred with military honors. A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 10:00-11:00 am at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Millcreek, UT followed by a private burial.
