James Patrick (Pat) McMullin, 67, returned to his heavenly home on October 5, 2017 after a valiant battle with cancer. He passed peacefully, supported and surrounded by his family, friends, and loved ones. We are grateful to the medical staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute that provided such excellent care.
Pat was born to Basil and Louise McMullin in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 2, 1950. He and his sister, Linda, spent their early childhood in Salt Lake City, UT. Their family moved to Littleton, CO when Pat was ten. He loved and played just about every sport. His natural athletic ability allowed him to excel in soccer, basketball and football. He received a football scholarship to Weber State University where he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Social work. Pat was an amazing skier and spent his winters on the slopes, specializing in the knee-pounding moguls. He loved working as a ski instructor at Snowbasin Resort as well as being on the ski patrol during his college years. Pat had a strong work ethic in sales that brought him employment in Colorado, Texas, California and Utah. He was always a Denver Broncos fan at heart, but his time in California endeared him to the San Francisco 49ers.
Pat was blessed with a loving family. He married Sherry Pace McMullin on September 7, 1972 in the Salt Lake City, Utah LDS Temple. They are blessed with and raised three children whom he loved dearly. He shared with them his love of family, health, sports and his love of the great outdoors. He also taught them to love God and to explore the beauty of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Pat loved to share ideas, create art of all kinds and he has a great gift of making friends wherever he went. He had a passion for vintage, cool cars and loved going to car shows with his kids. He was kind, patient, soft spoken and always had time to answer questions, solve a problem or fix a sprinkler when needed. He is deeply missed by his loved ones.
Pat is survived by Sherry McMullin, his children Dawn (J.) Lauti, Zachary (Michelle) McMullin, Callie Ann (David) Waugh, his five grandchildren Jayden, Jonah, Jaela, Julia and John Patrick Lauti and his sister, Linda Roylance. He is preceded in death by his parents Basil D. and Louise Beatrice McMullin.
A celebration of his life will be held on October 11, 2017 at 1pm in Bountiful, Utah.
