

James Patrick Murphy’s service to his family, community, and nation ended on Tuesday morning June 16, 2015. He endured well his trial with dementia. He served his family by teaching them a strong work ethic, love for all, forgiveness, and to follow Jesus Christ as well as the prophets and apostles.
James was born on April 30, 1932, in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, to Laurel Verne Murphy and Rose Anna Williams. James served his countrymen faithfully during the Korean War in 1955-56 and was honorably discharged. James then married Eleanor Ruth Matheson on January 14, 1957, in Reno, Nevada. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were blessed with 12 children.
James was preceded in death by his sweetheart Eleanor, and his sisters Louise Darnell and Carolyn Mackey, his parents, daughter Mary Lin, and sons James Martin, Brion, James Allen, and Samuel. He also suffered the loss of grandchildren Ryan Patrick Murphy and Tristen Anthony Sieloff. He is survived by his brother Richard, daughters Ruth Rash and husband Kenny, Nancy Yates, Deborah Kraft and husband Jack, Rebecca Swensen and husband Lars, Diane Sieloff and husband Tony, and sons David Murphy and wife Sherry, and Aaron Murphy. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 2:00 P.M. at the Cascade 1st Ward building located at 481 East Center Street, in Orem, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held prior to the services at 1:00 P.M. The grave dedication will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at 3:45 P.M. located at 3401 South Highland Drive in Salt Lake City, Utah.
