Janet Cutler Goble passed away February 15, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by devotion to family, learning, and service. She was born May 17, 1957, in Salt Lake City to Alan Bryner Cutler and Joanne Morley. She grew up in a warm, lively neighborhood, spending countless hours playing with friends, especially the Redd family across the street.
After graduating from high school, Janet married and welcomed four children. She spent the next two decades raising them and enjoying family life, even as the family moved every two years or so because of her former husband’s work. She later married her husband, Phillip Goble, with whom she shared many happy and meaningful years.
Determined to complete her lifelong goal of earning a college degree, Janet attended the University of Wyoming and continued her coursework wherever life took her. After years of persistence, she proudly graduated from the University of Wyoming with a B.S. in Business Education. She later earned a Master of Educational Leadership from the University of Utah. Janet went on to enjoy a meaningful career in education, teaching business courses from junior high through college, serving as the Business Education Specialist for the Utah State Office of Education, and ultimately becoming the first Director of Career and Technical Education for the Canyons School District.
Janet was a gifted musician who loved playing piano duets with her mother, performing in church, and once playing the Schumann piano concerto with a live orchestra. She also excelled in cross-stitch, crochet, sewing, and knitting, and expressed love through her cooking and homemade treats. Gardening was another joy. She filled her porch and yard with flowers and shared harvests of tomatoes, herbs, and vegetables with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip; her children N8 (Sarie) Higginson, Rachel Johnson, and Neal (Amanda) Johnson; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her sisters, June Christensen and Tereann Greenwood. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Tara Johnson; her sister, Catherine Cutler; and her brother-in-law, Steven Christensen.
