Joan Thomas Thomas Burgi

SEPTEMBER 25, 1931 - JUNE 24, 2010

Joan T. Burgi, 78, passed away on June 24, 2010, in Salt Lake City Utah from complications due to a prolonged illness. Joan was born September 25, 1931, to Lloyd M. Thomas and Reva Morley. She married Donald R. Burgi on June 22, 1951, later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married 59 years and enjoyed a loving and devoted relationship. They were blessed with three children, Richard, Kathleen, and Deborah. She worked for many years at Auerbach’s department store where family and relatives also worked. She loved to travel and to spend time with her family. An affectionate caretaker at heart she was a wonderful homemaker and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt. Joan was a member of the Grandview Second Ward where she enjoyed serving in the Relief Society. She gave service to neighbors and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and caregivers for their assistance with her courageous battle with an auto-immune disease. Joan is survived by her husband, Donald and her three children, Richard (Jeanne) Burgi, Kathleen (Brian) Donahue and Deborah Burgi and three grandsons (Brett, Tyler and Cody) and granddaughter-to-be Jennifer. She is also survived by one sister Evonne (Eldon) DeHaan and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Funeral services will be held June 29, 2010 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive at 10:00 am. Friends and family may call the evening before on June 28, 2010, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the same location and one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
