Kathy worked in the same bldg as I do and we'd bump into each other almost every day and chat for a few min about camping and family and food, etc. she seemed happy to see me and I enjoyed our conversations and her uplifting smile. 

Kathy was loved by the people she served in her work. She always had a great smile and was easy and fun to talk with. She will be greatly missed. 

Kathie was one of my best friends growing up. We went through elementary, junior high, and high school together. I have many fond memories with her. Spending time just hanging out with friends. Going to the Chicago concert and many more. All her crocheting and baking. All my love to Ardie and Allison. May the lord bless you with the comfort you need at this time. 

I am so saddened by Kathie's death.  She was a wonderful person.   My office was in the building she worked at for many years.  Every work day she would drop by and say hello.  Even during her times of great sorrow, she would smile.  I will think of her every time I use the hot pad  and small fry pan she gave me.  Allison and Ardie, may you find peace.


My heart is broken by Kathie’s loss. we were so close his cousins raised together the four of us with my aunt Kathleen‘s kids. We spent time at our grandparents  house, played games outside, we laughed a lot together.  Kathie went to Disneyland with my family when I was 15 so that would’ve made her 12 maybe... I remember how special that trip was to all of us. I’m so grateful that this sweet sweet woman was such a huge part of my life! I was touched by her kindness inspired by her sweet demeanor and willingness to serve in anyway that she could.  We lived in the same ward for a time. I was grateful to be around while her children were small. It was then where she said “will you teach me how to read a crochet pattern?” And so I did... and soon that girl could crochet circles around myself and anybody I knew ! She made the most beautiful things! I was the recipient of a couple of those things . My heart is heavy and I will miss her until I see her again. I will think of good memories and laughing I’ll think of kick the can and hide and seek. I think of grandpa‘s roses in his front yard and being  afraid to walk down the North Hall at grandmas house to go to the bathroom for fear of grandpa’s voice booming asking who is in the hall. I’ll  think of Evan and Danny and Ranae and Shellie and Heather... and I will think of Kathie’s yummy rolls at family Christmas parties ... or chocolate chip cookies... I will think of all these things and smile because God allowed her and I to be a part of the same eternal family.

Kathie's passing is heartbreaking.  She has always been a light in our lives.  I remember, as kids growing up, how serious she could be.  We would say "Be happy, Kathie" and she would say "Happy, Happy", in a very serious voice.  She had a quiet demeanor but anyone that spent time with her enjoyed her sense of humor and her sweet spirit.   Her eyes truly sparkled when she smiled. She always worried about how everyone else was doing and what she could do for others.  Growing up, we were very close as cousins.  Time together included outdoor games like kick the can,  time at Grandma and Grandpa's, there are so many happy memories.  My heartfelt sympathies and prayers of healing go out to Ardie and Allison, Evan and Jill, "Cousin George" and Tiffany, Ranae and Greg, Heather and Troy, and Shellie. I remember in late spring Kathy took sick and missed some work.  I remember her aching to return.  Whether she loved work or not I cannot say but my guess is there were few workers more devoted than Kathy.  I remember Kathy and Ardie standing in the hallway at Church after teaching Primary.  She was always dressed so nice and looked so pretty but my favorite memory is of Leo and River telling me about their teachers, feeling so proud and so loved.  I think some of Kathy’s dust rubbed off on the boys.  One of my favorite things to do was to face Kathy in the Relief Society room or in the gymnasium or in the hallway or at an Elder’s Quorum event at someone’s house, and chat.  It seemed to me that she could feel awkward in groups but it also seemed to me that she was a free and easy chatter, if the setting was right.   If she liked you.   If she could hear you.  If she knew you were fond of her and attentive.   I found she always had interesting “takes” and the most delightful part, not what I might expect.   I know she loved flowers.   You know what I feel badly about?  I cannot tell you her favorite one.   Dang.   I’ll have to ask Ardie or Allison.  I can tell you that she was the glue to many things — the Johnson house especially.   And how she loved Danny.  I know that.   She will be missed for a season.  Much love, Jim and Jane Blakesley

We remember Kathy standing as a young girl in her driveway on Grace Street, dressed in levis, rolled up, mid-calf, and a lovely blouse.  You know, she was always witty, her eyes easily sparkled, full of opinions and laughter if you took the time.  At her mother’s funeral celebration we had a long delightful conversation about decorating cakes.  Our memory is you would walk through Kathy’s life from cake to cake to cake.  If anyone was better at making you feel a token of appreciation was a stupendous gift, it was Kathy.  Even the memory of a pizza delivered last spring remains a delight.  Kathy just had a way with saying “thank you” and sharing deep seeded thoughts, some heart wrenching and some joyful, that we will miss.  Ardie picked a winner we will all miss.  She was good to Mina and will be missed.  We think Allison has her kind heart, charm and eye-sparkle.  We will enjoy seeing sparks of Kathy there.  Much love, Jim and Jane
