Kelly Jean McMillen Strebel died peacefully in her sleep on April 26, 2023. She was born December 4, 1964 to Gene and Carol McMillen. She graduated from Brighton High School and attended the University of Utah, where she made many lifelong friends. She married Ronald Strebel in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 24, 1985. They had 2 sons that they loved and cherished above all else. Although they later divorced, they remained friends.
She was an amazing mom. She loved big and protected her family fiercely. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. Her greatest joy was found in spending time with those she loved and those who loved her. She was thoughtful, kind and in spite of the challenges that came her way, she always had a smile on her face and maintained a positive attitude and an open heart.
Kelly always loved kids, so it’s no surprise she chose to pursue a career as a childcare provider. A career she absolutely loved for over 30 years. She has been a bonus mom to countless kids. Always there with love, a hug and an endless supply of snacks.
Kelly is survived by her sons Brandon (Jessica) and Marcus. Her siblings Deb and Mike McMillen (Jen); several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was proceeded in death by her parents Gene and Carol McMillen and her ex-husband Ron Strebel.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive in Salt Lake City. A private family service will be held in her honor Saturday, May 6, 2023.
