Kent graduated from Olympus High School in 1973. He worked for various employers and was a jack-of-all trades. He ended his career while working at Deseret Manufacturing in Salt Lake City.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having fulfilled many callings. He was a ministering teacher at the time of his death and loved ministering to his families. He loved his Quorum members. Kent loved to do church and temple work, read, golf, and watch movies. He loved being with his friends and family.
Kent was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah, to his wife, Emma Margaret Hatch Melugin on June 11, 1987. They had three children, Elizabeth Emma Grover, Anna Belle (Spencer James) Ariotti, and Christopher Kent Melugin (Claire K Wilson). They have four grandchildren, Ethan LaMar Grover, Alivia Belle Ariotti, and Faye and Iris Melugin with a boy on the way. Kent loved his grandchildren and was particularly excited to know the expected one would be a boy and be able to carry on his family name.
Kent is survived by his wife Emma, their children, grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, a sister, Carole Ann; two brothers, Stephen Roy and David Lawrence, several aunts and uncles, and his best friend, David Judd.
Kent’s funeral will be on September 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Valley View Stakehouse located at 2245 E 3900 S, Salt Lake City, UT. A viewing will be held before the funeral starting at 9:30 am. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT.
We would like to express our infinite and undying gratitude to all of the Huntsman at Home Care and Hospice team for their kind care of Kent; and to our friends and ward family for the prayers, concerns, and love they show us every day.
