Our dear mother, Merci Jenkins Taylor, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2024, at the remarkable age of 100, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on May 16, 1923, in Nephi, Utah to Charles R. Jenkins and Tola W. Jenkins. She married Leslie M. Taylor on February 19, 1948 and they were together until his death in 1994.
Merci was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend to many. There was nothing more important to her than her family. She loved reminiscing and telling stories about her parents, grandparents, kids, grandkids, great grandkids, siblings, nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved dearly. Her memory was uncanny even up until the end. She also loved her pets and those of her family.
Mother also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors as well as other activities. She was an accomplished skier (instructor at Brighton), golfer with more than one hole-in-one (member of Oakridge Country Club), bowler (Ambassador Club). She also loved spending time at the old Taylor Cabin on the Smith & Morehouse, where she met our dad. Merci was also a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
We all adored Mom. She was always cheerful, wise, humble, patient and yes, she was very funny, too. Mom leaves a lifetime legacy of family and friends that will miss her so much.
Merci is survived by her children Judith T. Rufi (Barrie), Jacqueline J. Hegstrom (Tim), Janna J. Taylor, Leslie Ann Taylor, David J. Taylor along with 12 grandkids and 9 great-grandkids. Proceeded in death by her husband, Less and grandson, Jesse Dimmitt.
