Born May 12, 1946 in Salt Lake City, UT, Patsy was the daughter of Sam and Bette (Larsen) Colobella. She attended schools in Vernal, UT and was a 1964 graduate of Uintah High School.
Patsy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the scriptures and attended the temple as often as she could. She loved her Italian heritage and was passionate about, and actively participated in, family history and genealogy work until her stroke in 2005.
Patsy was a woman of many great qualities and character. She loved her country, her family, friends and people in general. She loved being a grandmother probably more than anything in life. She loved to "show-off" her children and grandchildren to anyone she met. She was very proud of all of her family and their accomplishments.
Patsy was the strongest person we ever knew, both mentally and physically. Throughout her life, she battled numerous set-backs in regards to her health, but never complained. Through all the pain she endured, she held the highest spirits each and every day. She was the greatest example of overcoming the most difficult obstacles and beating the odds when they were stacked against her time and time again. She taught her family patience, love and understanding and demonstrated that the important things in life are not things, but the time spent with one another. She helped everyone she touched in life learn kindness, patience, empathy and gratitude. She was easy to love and made everyone's life better because she was in it.
Patsy loved listening and dancing to music, watching romantic comedies and musicals, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing Yahtzee, watching any sport her family member was playing and cheering on the Utah Jazz. But most of all, she loved to share photographs of her family, their works of art and describe all their accomplishments.
Patsy is survived by her children Cindy (Scott) Nelson, Rock Springs, WY; Cherie (Mike) Starke, St. George, UT; and Chad (Sandy) Colton, La Costa, CA; siblings Larry (Vivian) Colobella, Dianna Kokoszka (Tony DiCello) and Raelene (Lyle) Davis; grandchildren Anna (Jonathon) Crawford, Christopher and Isabella Nelson, Jessicah (Tanner) Johnston, Megan, Sam and Ryan Starke and Shea and Reese Colton and one great-grandchild, Ethan Crawford. Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Bette Colobella.
We love you Mom. We are very proud of you. We admired your strength, your love for people, your devotion to your family, the simplistic way you lived your life and your fun nature. The accomplishments we have made in our lives are due greatly in part to the example you set for us. Thank you Mom for making us better every day!
The family would like to thank the many caregivers from the various assisted living homes and rehabilitation centers and Zions Home Health Care for providing excellent care and friendship to Patsy over the years.
