

Randolph deMan Bergesen passed away peacefully on 7 Nov. 2024 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on 1 Nov. 1928 to Randolph Berent Bergesen and Geetruij deMan in Salt Lake City, Utah and celebrated his 96st birthday 6 days before his passing.
He married LaJune Sharp on the 12th of Aug. 1952. This marriage ended in divorce. He later married Sandra K Knudson on the 20th of Dec. 1974.
Randy attended Hawthorne Elementary and South High School. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
He served mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Netherlands, was where his mother was born and raised.
He was inducted in the US Army on the 26th of August 1952 and was honorably discharged on the 9th of August 1960. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and was also stationed in Japan.
He worked for Mountain Bell for most of his life and retired from there.
He loved sports and was very active in playing them. He loved skiing, football, basketball, softball, volleyball and even played them during his mission and while serving in the army. He was an avid bowler and bowled in many leagues. He was even playing softball at the age of 88. He played in many of the Huntsman Senior Games.
Randy and Sandy loved to travel in their 5th wheel and traveled extensively throughout the west. They traveled over 20 times to Hawaii which was one of their favorite places to travel.
Randy is survived by his wife Sandy, children Cheri Lockwood (Michael), Randa Angell, Bret (Annette), Greg (Brenda), Gary (Cassia) stepchildren Ben Hansen, (Kris), Lory Hansen (Jose), Holly Johnson (Kevin), 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, two half-brothers and a grandson, Steven Lockwood.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the Winder 11th Ward, Salt Lake Winder West Stake located at 951 E. 3825 S. in South Salt Lake. A viewing for the family and friends will be from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m.at the church prior to the service. Interment will be at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park located at 3401 S Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah 84106.
