Robert Courtney Duzett was born January 25, 1927, to Vera Berg and Robert Linford Duzett in Emery, Utah. He married his life-long and high school sweetheart, Dawn Lewis on August 13, 1947, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Robert graduated from South Emery High School. At age 17, he enlisted in the Navy. He proudly served on the naval aircraft carrier, Kadashan Bay. He was also the captain’s yeoman. He served from 1944-1946.
Dad grew up in Emery. His father owned a ranch, farm, coal mine, grocery store, and hotel, where Dad spent many hours helping and learning. With the loss of his father at age 9, Dad helped run the family’s grocery store and hotel. With this love of the grocery business, Dad continued to pursue the retail spectrum. As an industrious businessman, he proudly owned and operated “Duzett Foods.” He was awarded Groceryman of the Year.
Dad attended South Emery High School, where he enjoyed basketball, track, and the hurdles, in which he took state. He loved his trucks, cars, trailers, motorhomes, and boats. His yard was his passion, diligently planting flowers, and ensuring his lawn was green. You never saw him without his hat. Dad could do anything from finishing our house, including a garage roof, adding on his favorite sunroom, to “putting together” various projects he loved to do. His dry sense of humor, quick wit, and willingness to help/teach others made an impact on all who knew him. He was the dad of Dads; he was my Dad.
Robert is survived by his daughter Annette, brother Calvin (Mary Lou), precious nieces/nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his wife Dawn, parents, brother Berg (Nedra), sister Marjorie Maxfield (Bud).
Graveside services will be held January 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive.
