On November 22, 2021, the world lost a wonderful human being. Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, Sam Michael Petrogeorge passed away at the age of 59 with his loving family by his side.
Sam was born on March 17, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Michael and Mary Petrogeorge. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Sophie Mallas in 2002 and they have two wonderful children, Michael and Christie.
Sam was a family man and his priorities in life were his wife, kids, and playing with his dog, Rocky. He loved cars and sports of all kinds, golf, football, and basketball. One of his greatest joys was to watch his son play sports, and share his artistic talent of painting with his daughter, which is evident with the artwork and canvases displayed in their home. Sam grew up in the food and beverage business and owned many bars and restaurants (Sammy’s and Landmark Grill). He was a hard-working man who loved life and would give his shirt off his back for anyone in need. Sam’s only regret was that his heart was not strong enough to keep on going, so he can see his children grow up to do amazing things. God had a different plan for him, and he will be forever missed.
Sam was a devoted member of the Greek Orthodox Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Sophie, children, Michael and Christie, sister, Despena Petrogeorge, brother Chris (Jamie) Petrogeorge, brother Father Kosta (Maria) Petrogeorge, mother, Mary Petrogeorge, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Michael Chris Petrogeorge, and nephew Dimitri Petrogeorge.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the University of Utah Hospital, St. Mark’s Hospital, Intermountain Medical Center, Fresenius Kidney Care, and CNS Hospice, for their care of Sam in the last 12 months.
Funeral services and viewing will be held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 279 South 300
West, Salt Lake City on Friday, November 26, 2021. The viewing will be at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral at 11:30 A.M..
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sam’s memory to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
May His Memory Be Eternal.
