Sharon Haight Simpson, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on May 27, 2023 at her home in Sandy, Utah. She was born to Hector Caleb Haight and Phoebe Gertrude Haight on January 16, 1931 in Tremonton Utah. She graduated from East High in Salt Lake City and met her husband Bill Eugene Simpson, when he came to her home on a double date with another girl. They married May 26, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah and had three children.
Sharon was the ultimate grandma to her grandchildren, reading to them, playing games with them, making their birthday dinners and having sleepovers and cleaning up feverishly behind them. She was always interested in their lives and always had a welcome ear. She had weekly facetime calls with her 4 year old great-granddaughter, Hannah, and they enjoyed coloring pages and then exchanging them to each other in the mail.
Gardening was mom’s love. She meticulously cared for each plant, and tree and had scheduled times for the family to join in yard clean-up. She had a special place in the backyard for her grandchildren to pick flowers. Her house was always perfectly cleaned, organized and decorated. (Thank you David Jo.) Sharon had a special relationship with her sister and they enjoyed many years living close to each other engaging in their favorite hobby – shopping (which will remind us of her for years to come as we sort through her closets.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her daughter, Kim, three sisters and three brothers. She is survived by one daughter, Shauna, her son, Brett (Justine), and grandchildren, Matthew, Alison, and Bryant, two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Abigail.
We are fortunate to have had the honor of her positive and loving influence that will continue for generations that follow. We love you, Grandma.
A private family viewing will be held on Monday, June, 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service to follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
