Shirley Geary was born to Archibald and Edith Grace Haworth on June 25th, 1936 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She attended Bridgewater State College and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in education. She married Harry Vernon Geary, Jr, and they moved to Salt lake City, Utah in 1968.
Shirley taught fourth grade at Kearns-Saint Ann Catholic School in South Salt Lake City for 23 years from 1983 till 2006, and loved being able to impart her love of learning to young students. She loved reading and sharing books in book clubs.
An active and devout churchgoer, Shirley loved her community at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, and found joy participating remotely in her later years. An enthusiastic supporter of live theatre, she never missed a season at Pioneer Theatre Company. She enjoyed making blankets for the Linus Project and imagining the children would receive her handiwork and be comforted. She loved dogs and all animals and supported many wildlife causes.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Harry. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sandra Elizabeth Geary, and son David William (Michelle) Geary, and grandchildren Jackson Craig Geary, Ainsley Nichole Geary, and William Kent Geary. She is missed and remembered by many.
