Shirley Lucille West

Shirley Lucille Krantz West was born June 10, 1928 to Henry and Lucille Krantz in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away on May 3, 2025 in West Jordan, Utah. Shirley was raised in Salt Lake City with her three siblings Janice, Robert, and Marlene. She graduated from East High School and later married Jean West. Before divorcing, Shirley and Jean had three children; Carol, Shauna, and David.

Shirley worked over 35 years at Job Service where she made many lifetime friends. She was an avid reader, lover of the Utah Jazz, and loved playing cards. She loved parties with friends and family, especially parties in the canyons, always bringing her favorite Spanish rice dish. One of her favorite treats was a s’more, but would only eat just one! Cookies and candies were always in abundance at her house and she loved to spoil all of her grandkids. Shirley also loved to travel and join her children on vacations. If she wasn’t traveling, she was making trips out to Wendover to try her luck!

She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lucille Krantz; sister Janice (Boyd) Roberts; brother Robert (Janet) Krantz; sister Marlene Krantz; daughters, Carol Sweat, Shauna (Rex) Winegar; Son, David (Donna) West; Great-grandchildren, Kaylynn Sweat, Benjamin Crouse, and Shaylee West.

Shirley is survived by her son-in-law Dale (Linda) Sweat, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy full of memories and stories we will continue to share.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00 am at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Millcreek. A visitation will be held from 10:00-10:45 am prior to the service.
