Our loving dad, “Papa,” and friend passed away August 1, 2014, ending his 8 month battle with cancer. Steve was born in Salt Lake City, UT to Claribel Wallace and John Kay Aldous, a much anticipated 2nd child. He was a wonderful son, and lovingly cared for his aged mother for many years at the end of her life.
Steve attended East High school and the University of Utah. He took his first job on the Fort Douglas Golf Course at age 9, and saved enough money by 15 to buy his first car, though he didn’t yet have a license! His joy on the golf course became a lifelong passion and he was always in a tournament or looking forward to one. He spent his professional life in advertising and was a witty salesman at Trans America, KUTV and Bonneville Corporation. He spent his last years mixing work with his love of play, employed at Deer Valley in the winters and the Victory Ranch Golf Course through the summers, where he gained many dear friends.
Steve married MaryEllen Walker, later divorced. Together they had a daughter, Amy. He married Sharon Gibb on October 19, 1974 and they shared 25 years together. They had a son, Matthew and a daughter, Ashley. He was a great dad, always ready for adventure with his kids including countless trips to the zoo, the Natural History Museum, East Canyon Reservoir, and of course, the ski slopes.
He spent the last years of his life with Linda Bird, a high school sweetheart that he was able to reconnect with in his beloved Park City.
Steve will be remembered for his quick smile, free spirit and charismatic ways.
He is survived by his children Amy Lundquist (Doyle), Stephen Matthew Aldous (Han “Bylly”), and Ashley Aldous Henriod (Thomas), his grandchildren, Lauren, 16, Madison, 10, Evelyn, 10, Georgia, 8, Juliet, 5, Mason, 5, and Leah, 2. Preceeded in death by his parents and brother, Kay.
A special thank you to his friends and the doctors/nurses who provided care for him through his illness. We are so grateful for your love!
