

Susan Madsen Moore Hofner of Santa Cruz, California passed away peacefully on April 3rd, 2017 in her parents’ home in Holladay, Utah surrounded by her loved ones. Susan was born January 27th, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Frank and Connie Madsen. She is survived by her husband, Mark Hofner, and her two children from a previous marriage, Kaitlin and Alex Moore. She is also survived by four siblings: Michelle Ahlgren, Karen Densford, David Madsen, and Kathleen Morrill.
Susan attended Skyline High School in Salt Lake City, Utah and went on to earn a bachelor of arts in sociology at BYU Utah. Susan was able to raise her children fulltime for many years, but has been in accounting since 1999, most recently working as a senior accountant for A Kennedy Group in California. Susan married Mark Hofner on September 16th, 2011 after six years of courtship in Northville, Michigan. Susan was a kind, loving, and vivacious woman. She loved theatre and started acting in productions when she was little and continued acting throughout her entire life. She even spent a few years teaching acting classes to children and founded a theatre company in Oakhurst, California called Front Row Theatre. She was also active in the Santa Cruz Actors Guild and Mountain Community Theatre. Susan was a loving wife and mother, and one of the most loyal and giving friends anyone could ask for. Some of Susan’s favorite vacation locations were by a beach or in New York City, preferably on Broadway. Besides theatre, Susan was passionate about fashion, autism awareness, and her friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 8th at 10 AM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, followed by a funeral service at 11:00AM. Susan requested that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Autism Speaks (www.autismspeaks.org/ways-give) in her name.
