Susan Jane Cox Lewis, aged 70, of Salt Lake City, Utah, was called Home on July 31, 2024. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on January 8, 1954, to John Hoggan Cox and Marjory Helen Averson Cox. She graduated from Granite High School in 1972 and shortly after met and married David Robert Lewis on March 3, 1973. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was foremost an extraordinary, loving, and protective mother-her children and grandchildren were her everything. She was retired from employment at the Highland Drive location of Crown Burgers, where she worked for over twenty years and formed many special and lasting connections with both work companions who became family and many patrons who still remember her fondly. She was an avid reader with a special interest in history and biography, a lover of anything chocolate, and a true crazy cat lady and lover of animals. She was blessed through the wonders of technology in these last years to have found a special community online where she was able to create art and write stories and where she formed and fostered so many cherished friendships with people from all over the world. She was a wonderful listener and truly empathetic person who always tried to offer her love and support to all her friends and loved ones. Her presence in this realm will be sorely missed by so many, but she will always be lovingly remembered and admired by those whose lives she touched both near and far. She will look forward to so many joyous reunions and future meetings on the Other Side, where she has now found relief and peace.
Susan is survived by her son James (Michelle) Lewis, her daughter Liberty Lewis, her four grandchildren by James and Michelle, Breanna (Ben), Brooklynn, Maxwell, and Miles, her brother G. Blaine (Verla) Cox, and a host of other family members and cherished friends, including many virtual friends from around the world.
Susan was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents John and Marjory, and her husband David, who passed on October 6, 2022.
A private graveside service and interment occurred on August 6, 2024, at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
In closing, Susan would like you all to celebrate her return Home and to remember that "If you live long enough, you'll die from something."
