Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on Wednesday June 12, 2024, after valiantly battling colon cancer for nearly six years. We are thankful for all of the doctors and nurses at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and special thanks to the Intermountain Health Oncology team and to the Infusion Center that provided Suzanne with the care, solutions, and support throughout her cancer journey.
Suzanne never let cancer define her!
Suzanne was born on April 8, 1967 to her parents William Hal Fowkes and Stella (Titus) Fowkes of Magna, Utah. She was born with thick black hair and beautiful brown eyes. She grew up to be a beautiful, intelligent, and independent woman. She graduated from Cyprus High School in 1985, and later from Westminster College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing. Suzanne had a very successful career in telecommunications at Lumen (formerly named US West/Qwest/CenturyLink).
At work, she met her husband, Gary Chavez. They were married on a beach in Maui on September 7, 2000. Suzanne and Gary were made for each other. Gary always had a way of making her laugh.
They enjoyed their love of golf, travel, and spending time with family and friends, and especially with their grandchildren.
Suzanne loved being a grandma!
Suzanne is survived by her husband Gary, son Alex (Karly) Chavez, grandchildren Kenzee and Mason, siblings Lynn Bearnson, Dave (Lindy) Fowkes, Bruce (Karla) Fowkes, and Robyn (Rick) Stam.
Visitors are welcome on June 24, 2024 from 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M., Wasatch Lawn, 3401 S. Highland Dr., Millcreek, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, Suzanne requested that donations be made to Huntsman Cancer Institute colon cancer research.
