William “Bill” Roeder, age 71, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on August 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to family, deep friendships, and a life lived fully.
Bill was born on October 12, 1953, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William and Virginia Roeder. Bill graduated class of 72’ from West High School (SLC). While attending The University of Utah, Bill met his beloved wife Kim and they married August 4th,1979. Bill and Kim recently celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary—commemorating an unconditional love and blissful marriage that was envied by all who knew them.
A lifelong fan of the Utah Utes football team and the Los Angeles Angels, he rarely missed the chance to cheer on his favorite teams. Bill worked in the title insurance industry for more than 50 years, where his work ethic, loyalty, and love for people shone through in every interaction. He was known for working hard, playing hard, and treating everyone he met with kindness and respect.
Outside of work, Bill found joy in the outdoors and in his many hobbies—fishing, golfing, snow skiing, bowling, gardening, and traveling. At home, after a day in the garden, he could often be found in his favorite chair, affectionately nicknamed “Big Brownie.” It became a gathering spot where grandchildren and the family dogs would pile on top of him while he caught up on the latest sports, creating some of the family’s most cherished memories.
Above all, Bill’s greatest pride and joy were his children, their spouses and grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to his life. He cherished his family and friends and was loyal to a fault, always putting others before himself.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Kim Roeder; his children, Lindsay (J.D.) Dwyer and Patrick (Emily) Roeder; his grandchildren, Grace Dwyer, Finley Dwyer, Poppy Roeder, and Maguire Roeder, and his siblings JoAnn Frank, Joyce Roeder and Bob Roeder. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and William Roeder and his sister Jeanette Roeder. Bill’s life was defined by love, loyalty, and laughter, and his memory will live on in the countless people who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers please donate to one of Bill’s favorite charities, The Utah Food Bank or The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salt Lake.
