Born in 1930, in Bronx, NY, Anne was raised by her Aunt Louise after her parents, Joseph and Clara Brogan, passed away when she was four. She shared an apartment with her aunt and her five siblings, Charles, Mary, John, Jimmy, and Claire.
Anne loved raising her four children alongside her caring husband, Thomas, in New Rochelle, NY. Besides being an incredible homemaker, she worked full time, and her last position as a secretary was at the College of New Rochelle. She was a devout Catholic and was adored by all of her church communities. When Anne and Tom retired to Montauk, Anne was an active member of her church choir, and had a beautiful home filled with family memories and pull out couches with room for everyone to stay.
Anne suffered a stroke in 2013, and lost the ability to use her left side. Even wheelchair bound, she radiated joy, and never lost her phenomenal sense of humor. She found pleasure in life’s ordinary yet beautiful moments.
Anne had a passion for her Irish heritage and visited the country twice with her family. She loved the St. Patrick’s day parade in Montauk, making scones, and her two favorite movies, “Leap Year” and “P.S. I Love You,” that supplied her with Irish heartthrobs and countryside views.
Anne made a new friend every place she went. She led with a warm and thoughtful nature that made her unforgettable. She will be dearly missed and is survived by her dog and companion, Katie Anne Cleary, her sister, Claire, her four children Thomas, Richard, Pamela, and Patricia, her eleven grandchildren Beth, Brian, Richard, Mark, Anne, Meaghan, Claire, Michael, John, Molly, and Rachel. She also leaves six great-grandchildren, with one on the way, who she is already speaking with in heaven.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.obdavismillerplace.com for the Cleary family.
