So sad to learn of Dianes passing.

She was smart, supportive and oh, did she enjoy a laugh!! And could she identify a crank or a slacker!  She loved the “good people”…her girls, grandkids and Lexington staff and students .  The bus staff respected her, the students ran to her to solve their transportation problems. She was a solver of problems for others but gave herself little credit.  And sometimes she couldn’t get a break. But she was loved.  And she is remembered 💜 Dear, dear Diane. Xxx

Within the timeline of Diane’s life, our family was gifted the chance to be a small part of it. And in that time, we experienced a kindness, selflessness, generosity and hospitality that is matched by very few. 

For a time, we spent many days throughout the year staying at Diane’s after school, and she welcomed us all the more as each day passed. Not passively either; she was zealous to invite us in, care for us, treat us to our favorite snacks and meals that she was intent on always having because she knew our favorites. She was genuinely invested in our days and eager for our futures. She constantly turned mundane moments into ones of great love.

What’s curious is, from the experiences I recall, it seems like we spent many, many years together. But the reality is it may have been only months if calculated in full. 

How much more does that say about who Diane was, managing to fit what can seem like a lifetime full of love into only a handful of moments? That’s a legacy that will not be forgotten. And to what end? That even in the heavy mourning, sorrow, and grief of her passing, we would much more feel exhorted by the memory of who she was to spend our days like she did — loving others fully and selflessly. 

Diane was a mother to so many of us. I lost my parents at a young age , and when I became friends with her daughter Trisha , I was blessed to get to know her Mother. Her mother always welcomed me into the family as if I was part of the family. I will always cherish the moments that we would just share stories around the table when I came for a visit. 
She was such a wonderful and kind human being with an enormous heart.
