Born of Irish immigrants in the Bronx NY, John W. Jackson worked hard to put himself through Manhattan College in pursuit of his passions for physics and mathematics.
After securing his lifelong position at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton NY he went after his next passion-starting his family in idyllic Shoreham. Always kind and caring and supportive he did this with great success! His love for his family and their three golden retrievers always showed.
His work in magnet design led him to consulting work for Fonar, the small company that led the way in the field of MRI. Later in life he was thanked in person countless times by medical professionals so grateful for his contributions in this field changing technology.
Survived by his sisters, children, and five grandchildren he will be forever loved, appreciated and missed.
Visitation will be held at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Route 25a, Miller Place, NY 11764, US, on April 12, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a Prayer Service by Deacon Robert Mullane at 7pm.
