McSweeney, John J. Retired Major, on November 7, 2011 of Shoreham, N.Y. He was in the 9th Air Force, 386th Bomb Group, 554th Squadron. Flew 46 missions as a B-26 Bombardier / Navigator in WW II. Awarded Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with Eight Oak leaf clusters. Retired the rank of Major, United States Air Force. Beloved husband of the late Barbara. Loving Father of Karen Perkins and her husband Clif, and Brian and his wife Susan. Cherished grandfather of Noah, Leo, Sean and Danielle. Devoted brother of Mary O’Farrell, Anne Dour, Patricia Farrell and Kenneth McSweeney. Reposing at the O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Rt. 25A, Miller Place, L.I. Visitation Thursday & Friday 2-4 & 7-9. Funeral Mass Saturday 10 am. at St. Mark’s R.C. Church, Shoreham. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.
