Marian Parish passed away on the evening of January 31, 2026 at age 83. Born in Boston on May 12, 1942 to Catherine Lally and Everett Shea, Marian moved with her family to Hempstead as a child and lived on Long Island her whole life, eventually retiring to her beloved house in Miller Place. In her professional life, Marian devoted four decades to teaching English at Nassau Community College, with her favorite subject being Science Fiction, a highly popular course she was instrumental in establishing. After retirement, she enjoyed a relaxed lifestyle in the frequent company of friends and family at her home, traveling often as well, as no drive was ever too long if she had a good audiobook lined up.
Marian is survived by her children, Raymond Parish (Corine) and Darcy McConnell (Derek), her grandchildren, Scarlett Scheps (Charles), and Andre, Luke and Curtis McConnell, her brother-in-law Scott West, niece and nephews Crystal Parish, Michael Parish, Carl West and Adam West (Keri), and cousins Carol Tierney and Ellen Tierney. She was preceded in passing by her brother and sister, Gerald Shea and Kathleen West.
A memorial visitation will be held at O.B. Davis Funeral Home on Saturday, February 7 from 3 pm to 8 pm, with a eulogy service at 5 pm.
