Peter Mottola, a lifelong resident of Ridge, New York, passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on April 10, 1950, in Port Jefferson, Peter was known for his kind heart, quick wit, and deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
A skilled mason by trade, Peter spent many years building and tiling pools, leaving behind craftsmanship that reflected his dedication and precision. Outside of work, Peter was a collector at heart—especially fond of antique metal tin toys—and he loved nothing more than finding beauty and history in the things others overlooked. He also had a passion for cars, often purchasing and restoring them with care and patience.
Peter’s true pride and joy, however, was his garden. He tended to his flowers and plants with love, creating a vibrant sanctuary around his home that mirrored his gentle nature. With his dry sense of humor and warm spirit, Peter had a gift for making people laugh and turning even the hardest days a little brighter. To all who knew him, the word “kind” best described the man he was.
Peter is survived by his cousins, Elaine, Patricia, Julie, and Lauren, and by his brother-in-law, Michael. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Rocco and Beatrice; his brother, Philip; his sister, Jeanne; and his uncle Patsy and aunt Margaret.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, NY 11764. A committal service will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3442 NY-112, Coram, NY 11727, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Peter will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
