Thomas Joseph Schneider, born on April 26, 1943, passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Manhattan, New York and raised in Astoria, Woodside and Wantagh, New York, he was the beloved son of Lawrence and Ethel Schneider. Thomas later made his home in Ridge, New York, where he lived a full and meaningful life rooted in hard work, community, and family.
A dedicated and accomplished businessman, Thomas was the proprietor of Charles Miller Trucking and Warehousing Corporation in Brooklyn, New York. He took great pride in his work, and his commitment, reliability, and strong work ethic earned him deep respect from colleagues and customers alike.
Thomas was also an engaged and active member of his community. As an Air Force reserve officer, Thomas specialized in weather data to support various military missions. Later in life serving as the Block Captain of Leisure Glen and a proud member of the Retirement Community, he made a difference through his steady presence, thoughtful leadership, and friendly nature. Though often subtle in his gestures, Thomas had a way of making a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Known for his dry humor and constant stream of quick-witted jokes, Thomas brought laughter to family, friends, and neighbors. But most importantly, beneath the humor was a gracious and selfless gentleman—someone who consistently put others first and treated everyone with kindness and respect.
Thomas found joy and peace on the golf course and enjoyed bowling and playing tennis at the Glen. He had a well-known sweet tooth, especially for cherry Twizzlers and Wint-O-Green LifeSaver mints, treats that were never far from reach. Above all else, Thomas was a loving father and grandfather whose heart belonged to his children and grandchildren. You could always find him on the sideline of a baseball, soccer, lacrosse, basketball or volleyball game quietly cheering on his grandchildren. His love for them guided each chapter of his adult life.
Thomas is survived by his partner, Beatrice Lang; children, Thomas Charles Schneider and Christine Marie O’Brien; and his cherished grandchildren, Thomas Cole Schneider, Michael Thomas O’Brien, Charles Richard Schneider, and Kate Helene O’Brien. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Visitation will take place at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, New York, on November 25, 2025. Family and friends are invited to attend during the afternoon hours from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and the evening hours from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life for Thomas will take place at 3:15 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, honoring the life and memory of Thomas and the impact he had on those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the American Cancer Society.
Thomas was a remarkable man—gentle, humorous, loyal, and endlessly giving. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
