Sorry to hear about the passing of Edward. We lived a couple of doors down from them in Fort Sill OK when they were there. As kids we grew up with Jr and Terry. I'm also sorry to hear about Terry she is about my brother age.  When Edward got deployed to Vietnam they went back out west I think. I have been trying for years to contact Jr but to no avail. Maybe someone can contact me on how I can contact Jr. It has been a long time.   Thank you and again sorry to hear about Edward.

I fell in love with Ed at first sight...that beautiful face and wonderful smile of his. Our first date was on Valentine's Day 1975, and he took me to a Harrah's Employee Party. He looked so handsome in his suit and tie, and smelled so good! I loved his cologne, which was English Leather. (Even today, I still spray it around the house in his favorite places, and it brings back wonderful memories of him.)
In the early days he would wear these funny shoes, the kind with the big heels. We called them his Pee Wee Herman' shoes. While I worked at Harrah's Forest Buffet, Ed would come to see me as often as he could. When I knew he was coming, I would look for him down that long hall of the restaurant, and once I'd see him, my heart would skip a beat! He always looked so handsome and I would give him a big hug and kiss. After he would leave me, I would have his wonderful smile on my mind and it could make my worst day, bearable. There wasn't a bad thing about him. He was the kindest and most generous man I knew; to me, my family and most of all, our friends.
When Ed and I first started dating, Ed would take me dancing. He loved to dance and was quite good at it. He would take me to Harvey's Wagon Wheel in South Lake Tahoe to listen to the Big Band music of Ron Rose. We would have romantic dinners and drink champagne and then dance the night awaysometimes until the band stopped playing. I quickly realized that Ed was truly wonderful! We then fell in love and shortly after, we got married. 
When I married Ed, he didn't just take on a life with me, but all of my family. He was a wonderful father and a great son. He took care of my mom as well as his own, making sure that they always had food and medicine that they needed. He took them on many trips with us so they wouldn't be alone and forgotten. He was a man of pure goodness and loved all animals big and small. His mom had a little dog named Baby. Ed always made sure that Baby was well taken care of, too. When Ed's mother passed away, we took Baby to live with us until she too passed away. Ed was so kind and caring that way. We already had two dogs, two cats, a fish, a squirrel and an alligator. 
Ed and I took so many trips with our dear friends, Pat and Gladys. Trips to Apple Hill, Monterey California, and to Oregon and Daffodil Hill. We would always end each trip by eating at a Chinese restaurant. It was the favorite place to eat for the boys, no matter how hard Gladys and I tried, we always lost the choice in the end!
Ed just loved working with Ron & Ed on the Gaming Control Board. Those trips together for work made them the best of friends, at work and at play! They all thought the world of each other. When Ed Harris passed away, we were there for Norma, his wife. Even when we went out to lunch, we always included Norma. She is part of our family and always will be. 
Ed's love for people was apparent through his work at Harrah's. All the dealers thought the world of him and told me so all the time. Even the customers, which he made friends with, many to this day. His reputation at Harrah's for dealing cards so fast, got him the nickname of Fast Eddie', which he absolutely loved!
Ed loved to cook his famous cioppino around the holidays. One year we bought two of the largest lobster tails. Each one weighed at least two pounds each. Ed cooked them for Joy and Howie and they were so surprised at the size. They took pictures because they thought no one would believe them about the size. Ed got the biggest kick at the look on their faces!
We always thought of our friends, Bill & Veronica Loratelle, when we read this poem.

If I could catch a rainbow,
I'd do it, just for you,
And share with you it's beauty,
On days when you feel blue.
If I could, I'd build a mountain,
You could call your very own,
A place to find serenity,
A place to be alone.
If I could take your troubles,
I would toss them in the sea,
But all these things, I'm finding,
Are impossible to me.
I cannot build a mountain,
Or catch a rainbow fair,
But let me be what I do best,
A friend who's always there.

Even after 42 years of marriage, I still can't believe that he is gone. My life will never be the same. He was my life, my spirit, and my soul. He gave me the will to go on through some of the worst times in our lives. His illness at the end was hard on both of us. It robbed us of our best years to come. Ed never complained about it. He was such a very special man and the world is a much sadder place now that he is gone. If there is an afterlife, (I hope so) then I can't wait to see him and hold him in my arms once again. I will kiss that beautiful face and smell his wonderful scent again.

What can I say about my dear brother-in-law, Ed Boylan. Who always appeared strong to me on the outside. A great outdoors men, fishing, hunting, hiking. A great career man, Soldier, Pit Boss,Gaming Control Officer and so on.
However, he was the complete opposite on the inside. Kind, loving and most generous. I guess you could say he had a "soft nougaty" center........
The kind of guy. That when I was young and dirt poor. Living on my own in a studio with no means of cooking anything, only a small refrigerator. Went out of his way to purchase a beautiful new microwave, for me. Then have it delivered the very next day. Which I might add, I still have today, and it's working beautifully.......
The kind of guy. That took my sister and the whole family every year to the California State Fair.
Even though, I don't think he was ever too keen on going, but he knew hope much we loved it. Always hot and crowded.....
The kind of guy. That looked after our mother, after our father's early and unexpected death. Even though, he wasn't obligated to do so.........
The kind of guy. That would do anything for anyone of us, a "ONE OF A KIND" type of guy........who I loved.....
Eddy, I will miss you so very much, you'll forever remain in my heart.
I am eternally grateful for having you in my life.......

My brother-in-law Ed Boylan was the kindest man ever. He always had my back. I remember one christmas My daughter Laura and I were just scraping by and Edward found out we were not going to have a christmas tree that year. Ed and Connie took a trip to see us in Sacramento just before christmas and took Laura and I out to dinner only to tell us that after dinner we would be shopping for a christmas tree. It was very cold and raining cats and dogs that night. Ed took Laura to three different tree lots before she found the one tree that would finally be coming home with us. O by the way, we lived on the second floor apartment! In the pouring rain Ed brought the tree upstairs and set it up. It was beautiful. Ed was soaking wet after our adventure and still had to drive home to Gardnerville that night. As for Laura and I we often think of our memory with Ed and Connie that night. I will miss you my dear brother. It has been an honor and a blessing to have been in Edwards life.

I look back at my childhood and realize how lucky I was to have Ed and Connie in my life ever since I can remember.  Our family used to call them both our little elves, they always made every occasion special for us.  When I think about Ed, I hear his  magnificently cheerful laugh and I picture his heartwarming smile.  Ed will be missed greatly, and remembered forever.

Ed, I think of you every day. We were so fortunate to grow up with you and Connie right down the street. Truly the best neighbors ever! I will forever cherish the memories... How excited we were as kids to walk down to your house and visit. You always had something special waiting for us...you always went above and beyond for us. You were so warm and welcoming. So generous, thoughtful and kind. I will always treasure the love you had for us. 
I can still hear your voice and your infectious laugh. You truly had the best laugh ever! That is one of the things I will never forget! 
It's surreal that you're no longer here, but I know you're at peace; fishing on a crystal clear lake getting ready to catch the big one!! 
You will always be in our hearts. 
We love you Ed!

I am so very saddened over the loss of my dear brother in-law Edward Riker Boylan Sr. Eddie was a good man who would do anything for you and I am so honored to have been his brother in-law and will miss him greatly. Eddie was an inspiration to me. I admired all those wonderful qualities that made him the special person that he was. He had intelligence, wit, charm and a caring heart that made him a great friend in addition to being my brother.      Howard
