OBITUARY

Larry Wayne Hofstetter

4 January , 19459 July , 2019

Larry Hofstetter born on January 4, 1945 in Hayward, California died on July 9, 2019 in Gardnerville, Nevada. He left us way too soon. He was a great husband and father. He was a good man and great friend to many. Larry was a carpenter for over 30+ years and wasn’t afraid to try anything – be it cutting his wife and daughter’s hair, sewing on his mother’s old sewing machine, making furniture, helping his son with his car, creating a beautiful yard, and painting – there wasn’t anything this man couldn’t do. He hated throwing anything away (especially if he could fix or repurpose it). Larry’s passion was fishing and his wife’s homemade M&M cookies.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents Lois and Milo Hofstetter, his aunt and uncle Ruth and Dutch, in-laws Sal and Jennie Marks, and brother-in-law Ed. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Betty, daughter Kris and her husband Tom of Gardnerville, son Jason and his children of CA, sister Letha of CA, sister-in-law Jean of CA, his two favorite nephews – Jeff of Reno and Robert of CA, many cousins in Missouri and Kansas, and last but not least – his Eagle Lake fishing buddies who he always had a great time with.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Eagle Lake Guardians in Larry’s name and mail to 686-795 Bamboo Way, Susanville, CA 96130.

Larry was my cousin and even though I hardly ever saw him the last 40yrs or so, I will always remember his great laugh, fun times at their Fremont home, Christmas eves and that beautiful blue Chevy! Love you always, Veronica

It's not often we get to meet someone like Larry In Our Lifetime but I did. I feel very fortunate to have known him, worked for him and with him. No matter how things were going good or bad it never seem to bother him either way. He was always upbeat and in a good mood even when I filled our dump truck we called "Big Blue"up with diesel instead of gasoline. Oh how I dreaded making that phone call that day but he just showed up with about 10 gas cans and spent the next hour helping me siphon it all out all he said was stuff happens haha. Well not exactly the words he used but if you knew "H" that's just the kind of guy he was. I called him about once a month just to check in and chat and I feel very fortunate that I was able to speak with him the Friday before his passing. He was in an good upbeat mood as usual. He will be dearly missed by so many in this world R.I.P. my friend.

Had the pleasure of knowing Larry as a neighbor for years and seeing how much he made this little corner of the world in which we happen to reside a better place through the beauty of home improvement and more importantly through personal kindness. We will miss Larry's smile and splendid sense of humor, and will sorely miss seeing and talking with him doing one of the many things he clearly enjoyed so much, yard tractor out working in the yard.

I had the privilege to provide Larry with dental hygiene care for the last 11 years. He was a patient that I always enjoyed visiting with. I loved his gentle demeanor and fun stories. I was always so happy to see Larry and Betty arrive at the office. Such a treat. I will miss him very much.

Larry was not only my brother-in-law, but my friend. The man in my life that I could always count on for good advice. He cared for my well-being as well as Robert's as we dealt with my husband's death.

Larry brought joy to any gathering. Family holidays, birthdays and just plain old pizza and beer gatherings were all of our favorites. He had stories, he had projects he was working on and was willing to share.

Will always remember pizza at Renato's with the whole family.
Loved and will continue to love you always, Jean
