Dear Venus you were the glue that held my heart together. As I told you so many times, I don't know how I'm going to get through the rest of my life without you; however I am so happy you got to spend your birthday yesterday with your husband and other relatives and friends in Heaven. I'm heartened knowing how happy you must be with God, Jesus, The Holy Ghost your family and that you went peacefully carried up in God's hands. You often talked about your family here on earth and how much you love them; your children, their children and their children's children and their relatives. Venus thank you for letting me be one of your Forever Friends. I will be try to be happy and strong for you. Knowing you are with loved ones in Heaven and really not separated from your loved ones here on earth, brings me comfort. I still miss you terribly my Forever Friend, and I hope by God's Grace I may one day enter Heaven and find you. Love Cassandra.

My name is Cassandra and I believe I remember meeting Cindy Chin and a friend of hers at a beautiful dinner Venus prepared for us all. It might have been ham with a beautifully crispy sort of crust on it from being baked. I remember the same kitchen as Cindy Chin described. Wonderful evening! Venus also took me to the incredibly beautiful Greek Orthodox Church in Oakland, as I am half Greek. I had no family so Venus was my family. I made a poster recently which Venus had on her dresser I believe, entitled "The Miracle of Mohogany". Venus told me she looked at it daily so I felt a bit as if I were visiting her by way of my painting/poster. I now feel fully orphaned as well and give out my heart to everyone of her friends and family. Thank you Cindy Chin for reminding me of at least a similar lovely time I had with Venus. Bruce and Cindy may have been there too? I never had a chance to tell Cindy Taylor how much her studies inspired me to go to college. Thank you. Again, my heart goes out to Bruce, Cindy, Jeremy and your beautiful families. May we all recover from our loss and be filled with the love and light of our Lord, that poured out through His beloved Venus.

Mrs. Taylor was like a second mother to me.  Cindy and I were best friends in high school, and we have remained friends ever since.  I always called her ‘Mrs. Taylor', out of respect for my elders, and could never call her ‘Venus'.  I spent the night and had dinner often at the Taylor home and have fond memories of both Mr. and Mrs. Taylor.  I can still envision Mrs. Taylor in her blue apron in her blue kitchen cooking and cleaning her immaculate house.  I can hear her calling out my name in her high pitched sing-song voice, “Cindy Chin!”  (I was always ‘Cindy Chin' to distinguish me from ‘Cindy Taylor').  

I remember that Mrs. Taylor and some friends used to walk around Lake Merritt for exercise, then afterwards they would promptly go to my mother and father's Chinese restaurant for lunch and regain all the calories they had just burned off walking.  Mrs. Taylor and I were train buddies, and we use to take Amtrak to Portland to visit Cindy and Fred.  

After she moved to Nevada, Mrs. Taylor regularly wrote me letters, which I still have.  She always remembered to send me a birthday card for my birthday on February 7th, which was six days after her birthday on February 1st.  We were both Aquarians.  The first year that I did not receive a birthday card from Mrs. Taylor was a sign to me.  Mrs. Taylor passed away two days before the 2- year anniversary of my mother's passing.  Cindy said, “We're both orphans now”.  Together, we will both remember and celebrate our wonderful mothers each year at this time.

My heart goes out to Cindy, Bruce and the entire family.  May you all find peace and comfort in the days and years to come through your many cherished memories.

Venus was a 100% giving loving friend. I met her just before it turned out that I would need her most. I had to let go of her over 42 years later when she sent me like a baby chick to finally fend for myself in this world. Right when I had just realized what my life was for, and a few extra months to get used to knowing what I needed to do with the rest of my life. She stayed with me and if she had not, I never would have lived through the things I did. She understood everything and above all knew that the Lord loves her very much. She never questioned His love for her and her love for Him. She had a True Reciprocal Relationship with God that God willing He will help me with emulating, the rest of my life. May you rest in the beauty and comfort of God's Hands with your beloved ones already in Heaven and those to come, my Dear Venus, my Forever Friend..all my love, Cassandra

If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. Sorry that I couldn't come back in time to see you on this earth again. But as we said to each other when I left for Germany: We'll see us for sure in heaven!

Grandma Taylor (or Grandma "Rose" as my kids refer to her), was one of a kind.  I was around 9 years old when my dad married Cindy.  She took the three of us in as if we were her own.  We saw her every summer and some holidays.  Her cozy home, her yummy cooking and her commitment to family changed my life.  She is responsible for so many happy childhood memories.  She taught us about roses, cooking, entertaining, the importance of volunteer work and how to manuever on public transportation :-)  She was always in a good mood, dressed impecably, ready for an adventure and gracious in everything she did.  Venus "Rose" Taylor will be missed greatly and remembered dearly.  I love you Grandma!
