Doris the deer hunter...if you look very close you will see "Bambi" about two feet from Doris' left leg.

I've known Doris since I was a small child. My sister, Barb went to school with Carolyn. Spent many hours playing at her house. She always had a smile on her face and was always busy with her crafts.She was the last of the great ladies of the neighborhood. May she rest in peace.  Susan Hallbeck (Rudisuhle)

Doris Friis, Great winemaker!  She made everything fun!  The grapes may be good this year, but without her touch, the wine will never be as good again.  The vine yard will be very, very lonely!  John

What a sweetheart, top shelf lady.  We really enjoyed our brief time with Doris (knew her about 5 years out of 101).  She always had something nice to say about everyone and everything.  We'll miss her greatly

Moms, no matter their age, are still mom and the loss of their presence is heartbreaking. I consider myself one of the lucky people who got to meet your mom and sense the wisdom that a century of experiencing life's ups and downs brings. Her soft voice, quiet chuckle, and welcoming smile leave warm memories.

Grandmas are for stories about things of long ago.

Grandmas are for caring about all the things you know.

Grandmas are for rocking you and singing you to sleep.

Grandmas are for giving you nice memories to keep.

Grandmas are for knowing all the things you're dreaming of.

But, most of all, Grandmas are for love. 

She was the best Grandma and the best Great-Grandma. She will always live in our hearts and we will truly cherish the memories forever. She will be deeply missed.

Carolyn and John, I'm thinking of you in your sorrow on having Doris no longer with you. No life is ever long enough, and it's wonderful that you had so many years together.

I had the privilege and honor of getting to know Doris when she moved in with John and Carolyn.  she always had a smile on her face and a warm welcome, and the love for her was felt when you walked into a room where she was.  Knowing she is now in our Lord God's Kingdom with her loved ones is comforting, her smile will join the illumination of His Great Light.

My great-grandma, Doris, was blessed to live a long, wonderful life. I'm glad she was there for the first 18 years of my life, but I know she'll be watching over me for the rest of my life. I always looked forward to Christmas or any time I would visit my great aunt & uncle's house knowing I'd see her. Even though she's not here anymore, I know that I should not only be sad, but happy knowing she's with everyone that's been waiting for her. I love you Grandma Doris. xx

Doris was my neighbor since 1965, when we, the Rue family, moved across the street from her.  She was an awesome neighbor.  I missed her when she moved.  We all called her Mrs. Cleaver, with love.  She was always dressed up and with make up no matter what she was doing that day.  She was kind, loving and always had a compliment.  She could turn a gray day into sunshine.  My love and condolences to her family.
