Elizabeth Benson

of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, September 20, 2013 at the age of 90. Preceded in death by husband, Donald Benson; parents, Joseph and Mary (Menne) Schutrop; brothers, Raymond, Robert, Irving; cousin, Cyrilla (Menne) White. Survived by children Barbara Benson, Loretta (Bert) Nicholson, Victoria Benson, Nicholas (Barbara) Benson, Juliann Benson and Daria (Mark) Kubricky; 8 grandchildren, Noah, Virginia, Zachary, Spencer, Gretchen, Jacob, Samuel and Leah; 1 great grandson, Jacob; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Betty was born on December 2, 1922 in Washburn WI. She moved to Minneapolis in 1947 where she married and raised her children. After her retirement from the Incarnation school kitchen she enjoyed her home on Lake Mille Lacs outside of Isle MN, spending winters with her children. Her lifetime passions included gardening, baking, sewing, bowling, volunteering at church and beating her children and grandchildren at cribbage. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Visitation 5-8 PM Tuesday (9/24) at Kapala-Glodek Funeral Home, 230 13th Ave NE, Minneapolis. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday (9/25) at Incarnation Catholic Church, 3801 Pleasant Ave S. Minneapolis. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Alzheimer's Association or Cancer Society.
