He will be deeply missed by his loving family, including wife Shelly and children Samantha (15), Hanna (9) and Sara (9). Eric enjoyed his family life at home, at the cabin, or on an all-too-infrequent vacation. He took great pride in his children’s accomplishments. Whether he was taking Samantha for a ride in his Corvette, searching for Hanna’s precious Bearie , washing his car with Sara, or playing his guitar for the amusement of all, he treasured the time he spent with his family.
Eric’s parents Phyllis and Maurice Hooper both preceded him in death.
Eric grew up in New Brighton MN, and was a born entrepreneur. In high school he delivered pizzas and by his early twenties, he owned and operated two pizza restaurants. Eric received his BA from Metropolitan State University, and his MBA from St. Thomas University.
After spending time in a variety of corporate finance jobs, Eric found his true passion in real estate. He was a long time realtor for RE/Max and loved meeting people and helping them purchase the best home for their needs. His friendly and easy-going personality, engaging smile, sincerity, concern for others and hard work made him a popular realtor.
In addition to spending time with his family, Eric’s leisure-time pursuits included playing Call of Duty the day after Christmas, attending car shows and races with his brothers, and figuring out gadgets of all kinds.
Eric was the youngest of a blended family and will be missed by sisters and brothers—Sue Zuidema (Jack), Margaret Tevis (Jim), Betsy Riley (Bill), Phillip Zuidema (Linda), Elise Zuidema, Janet Kohler (Dale), Lori Zuidema and Craig Zuidema; many nieces; nephews; and friends.
