He was raised in Lake City, MN and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949. John spent 4 years in the Navy and worked as an accountant for Happy's Potato Chip Company. He loved watching sports, fishing, and playing golf, was involved as a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church for 50 years and was very active in the community.
He is survived by wife of 59 years, Arlene; daughter, Julie (Steve) Mikel; sons, Mike and Jeff; granddaughters, Shawn, Candi, and Corrie; great-granddog, Lucy; brothers, Ernie and Robert; sisters, Helen Rich, Rosemary (Robert) Connor. Preceded in death by his son, Scott.
Visitation Monday, January 14, 5-8 PM at Washburn-McReavy. Funeral service Tuesday, January 15 at 11 AM with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 4656 Colfax Ave N, Mpls.
Interment at Sunset Memorial Park, Mpls.
