October 27, 1951 – November 13th, 2025
John A. Young, age 74, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Born on October 27, 1951, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, John was the son of Charlie and Gladys Young. He was a deeply kind and thoughtful man, finding meaning and enjoyment in the simple joys of life — from the rumble of passing trains to the laughter of his grandchildren.
John began his career in the automotive industry but ultimately found his true calling as an independent HVAC contractor. He took great pride in his craft, restoring warmth and comfort to countless homes — many within the very neighborhoods where he grew up. His skill and dedication earned him the trust of his community and the gratitude of many homeowners.
Beyond his work, John had a lifelong passion for trains and model railroading. He loved building intricate model railroad cars, exploring transportation museums, and enjoying excursions behind the Milwaukee 261 steam locomotive.
A passionate cook, he also delighted in preparing meals for family during the holidays, proud of the happiness and joy it brought people.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Gladys Young. He is survived by his brother Leonard; his children Justin (Meaghan) with their sons Theodore and Oskar; Jessie; and Emy (Ben) with their son Dean. His spirit lives on through them — in their humor, creativity, and steadfast kindness.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will be invited to share stories, memories, and love for a man whose quiet presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
