Passed away peacefully on after a battle with Cancer and Amyloidosis.
Funeral arrangements are being made by Sunset Funeral Home in Minneapolis, 612-789-3596.
A 12:00 pm Funeral Mass will be officiated by Father Meinrad Dindorf and held in the Chapel at the St. Benedict’s Senior Community Center, 1810 Minnesota Blvd SE, St. Cloud Minnesota.
Family and Friends may visit (one hour) prior to the funeral mass at the Chapel at St. Benedict’s Senior Community Center from 11:00 am - 12:00 noon.
Entombment will be held at approximately 2:30 pm in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park located on 2250 St. Anthony Blvd NE in Minneapolis, MN.
Mary was born in Staples, MN to Charles Kenning II and Mary (Brandel) Kenning. She married Valentine D. Symanitz on November 17, 1953 in St. Wendel, MN (they divorced in 1989). They had two children, Nora Jean and Kevin.
Mary worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis for 14 years. She also worked as a housekeeper at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Mary was an avid gardener and bird watchers. She loved the outdoors and felt it was a little bit of heaven. She also enjoyed reading and was very committed to her Faith. She loved her siblings and spent a lot of time visiting and traveling with them.
Survivors include children: Nora Jean (Symanitz ) Lapic, Hopkins, MN and Kevin Symanitz Chisago City, MN; brothers: Stanley Kenning of Baxter, MN and Martin Kenning of Rogers, MN; and sister Julia C. (Kenning) Thomalla of St. Cloud, MN, and many dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sister Lucille (Kenning) Weyrauch, Brothers Charles Kenning III & Herbert Kenning.
A Special Thank you to the St. Cloud Hospital Hospice staff, Nurses, Music therapists, Massage therapist, Social Worker and the Nurses and staff at St. Benedicts Senior Community.
